A talk with Sarah from Germany

Sarah is a lovely, smiling and easygoing German girl and studying in East Taiwan. Her passion for aboriginal cultures surprised me and gives me a reflection on our own culture. I find out that our traditional cultures are dying, and should we learn our traditional cultures from foreigners in the near future?

Let’s get back to the topic, her first impression of Taiwan is Nero. Her favorite food in Taiwan is vegetables(素食), like taro. Her favorite place here is in Sandiman(三地門) tribe’s village because people are naïve and hospitable and good weather.

About comment for better Taiwan, she hope we give the youth more free time for learning more things and thinking of their future. We put too much shit pressure on our descendant and force them to study for a long time, and teachers lose their passion because of too much classes’ preparation. “Students in Germany have less time of studying and so they have more time to looking for their likes.” She told me. Besides, we Taiwanese has a strong stereotypes of many things, like aborigines like drinking. Also, we have a narrow-mind of the world and think that English is the only foreign language and foreigners only speak it.
